Jawai is a small village named after the Jawai river which has now become an emerging wildlife attraction for the tourists. The surrounding area is mainly known as Jawai Dam because it is located near the dam. The Jawai dam is built by Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur and covers the village are of 500 square kilometers. Jawai is nearly famous for the Leopards, birds and crocodiles. It also attracts migratory birds of over 100 species flying every year. Jawai is home for panthers, hyenas, chinkaras, nilgai, bears, wolves but in widely known for the human friendly leopards. The primary attraction of visiting Jawai is the Jeep safari. The locals are very familiar with the leopards and there hasn't been a single incident of leopard attack in the nearby villages. Tourists can avail morning safari followed by evening safari or can opt for a full day safari.

Dev Giri Temple

Located halfway at one of the surrounding hills, Dev Giri temple is dedicated to the local goddess Ashapura Mata Ji. The locals believe that she protects the entire village from natural calamities. Surprisingly, humans are not the only visitors here, the temple is also visited by leopards and other wild animals in the area.

Other birds around the dam were Stone chat, Pied bushchat, and Paddyfield pipit.
