Bhimtal is a lake city named after Bhima, the fascinating mythological character of Mahabharata. Bhimtal is located at an altitude of nearly 1,370 metres from the sea level. The city is on a close vicinity from Nainital and is gaining its popularity with each day since the hotels offers cheaper rates than Nainital. Bhimtal offers splendid views of nature. In contrast to Nainital which is always crowded Bhimtal is an idyllic place which is less crowded. It is a perfect place for weekend getaway as it offers plenty of activities such as water sport opportunities for amateurs with paddling and boating facilities. Tourists can also enjoy nature walks and adventurous trekking at Bhimtal. Bhimtal also attracts pilgrimage tourists by some of the holy temples where many devotees flock for paying obeisance. One of the prominent places of faith is the 17th century Bhimeshwar temple, showcasing the entangled architecture.
Pant Nagar Airport is the nearest airbase to Naukuchiatal which is almost 70 km away. The drive takes almost two - two and a half hour. Taxis can easily be availed outside the airport. The state-owned buses (USRTC) and private buses run regularly from Uttarakhand and its neighbouring states. The intra-city bus services are also quite frequent connecting Naukuchiatal with other major hill stations of the state. You can easily access this hill station from Nainital, Almora, Kathgodam via bus or taxi.
Kathgodam, which is at a distance of nearly 40 km from the village, acts as the nearest railway station. It is well connected to all the major cities like Bangalore, Shimla, Delhi, Kolkata, Kanpur, Dehradun and Jammu etc. Cabs and buses are easily available outside the station.
